The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation (GOLDOC) is committed to showing leadership in sustainability by delivering the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) to international standards of best practice, leaving positive economic, environmental, social and community legacies.
Guiding GC2018’s delivery are two international frameworks: ISO 20121, the international standard in sustainable event management systems and the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) sustainability reporting framework.
GOLDOC’s Functional Area teams have integrated sustainability considerations into strategic planning by ensuring the entire organization supports delivery of initiatives against GC2018’s nine sustainability priorities.
In recognition of this work to date GOLDOC has achieved:
- Second party conformity to ISO 20121
- An Australian Business Award for Sustainability 2016
- Highly Commended in the 2016 Premier’s Sustainability Awards
- A 4 Star Green Star – Interiors PILOT Rating from the Green Building Council of Australia for the fit-out of its Games Headquarters (GHQ) at Ashmore—a first for the City.
